We are pleased to offer another digital book at no cost in the Library of Professional Psychology. This free download is the fourth and final book in a series regarding political psychology. Ranging in the first volume from an exploration of the decline of expertise and belief, to an examination of the dynamics operating in the challenging world of VUCA-Plus (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity, turbulence and contradictions), this series of publications has introduced many new concepts regarding the psychology of anticipation (polystasis), the nature of rigid thoughts and assumptions (bubble of belief), and the differing perspectives to be taken when viewing challenging circumstances (lenses of essence and lenses of essential).
In the fourth book, The Pathway to True Freedom, the three authors (Bergquist, Weitz and Pomeranz) build on the studies done over a thirty-year period regarding the collapse of authoritarian regimes and the emergence of potential worlds of freedom and choice. In this book attention focuses on not only what has been learned about past experiences of emerging freedom, but also the challenges to freedom found in the United States under what in the subtitle is declared a“the MAGA Siege and American Dictatorship.” A unique feature of this book is not only its incorporation (as in the three previous books) of multiple disciplinary perspectives (ranging from psychology and anthropology to philosophy and theology), but also the reflections of the three authors on their own perspectives (and biases) coming from a culture of apartheid (Weitz), a heritage of holocaust survival (Pomerantz), and a legacy of past American presidential leadership regarding equity (Bergquist).
