Who Am I? Who Are you?
I know not what the time is,
The hour, the day, the year;
Can’t say where this odd place is
Or what I’m doing here.
There’s little that’s familiar;
The faces? All so strange.
I’m scared. I’m lost. I’m lonely.
My life’s so rearranged.
There’s something that is missing
But I can’t tell you what.
Can’t tell you much of anything.
Cause the words, they can’t get out.
I’m trapped inside a prison;
A world that makes no sense.
It’s dark. It’s weird. It’s frightening.
On the wrong side of this fence.
I see you when you come here;
There’s something about your face
That seems so damned familiar
But your name has been erased.
I think you might be someone
I’ve known a long, long time.
But I’m not sure, and yet I feel
A connection, deep inside.
Can’t say your name, it will not come,
Like everything I try to do.
Still, there’s something, something real,
There’s something about you.
Please hold me close and help me
To feel safe and calm, somehow.
It won’t last, it never does.
But, in this moment, I will, I can, I’ll smile.
